Itinerary
Arrive Tuesday Morning afternoon leave Wednesday afternoon.
Tuesday:
Thetford Forest Hike Distance: 16 km
Walking Time: 4.5-5 hrs
Ascent: 80 metres
Grade: Easy/Medium
We’ll kick off our adventure in the town of Brandon, near Thetford Forest. This 16 km walk takes us through towering pines and firs, with a route that meanders by the historical village of Santon Downham and past Grimes Graves, a Neolithic flint mining site. We’ll follow sections of the peaceful Little Ouse River, where the sense of wilderness surrounds us. With minimal inclines, this moderate walk is a perfect introduction to the weekend, giving you time to reconnect with nature and enjoy the serenity of the forest.
After our hike, we'll head to King's Lynn to check into our cosy accommodation and prepare for the evening.
New Years Evening Celebration
We’ll join in the festivities at a New Year's Eve party at our accommodation. Enjoy a buffet and disco from 7:00 pm to 1:00 am, toasting to new beginnings and an exciting year ahead. (Smart Casual Dress Code)
Wednesday - New Years Day
Coastal Hike – Old Hunstanton & Holme-next-the-Sea
Distance: 14 km
Walking Time: 4 hrs
Ascent: 100 metres
Grade: Easy/Medium
After breakfast and checkout, we’ll head to the Norfolk Coast for a stunning New Year’s Day walk. Our 14 km route follows the coastal path from Old Hunstanton to Holme-next-the-Sea, described as one of Britain’s wildest stretches of beach. Along the way, we’ll walk through sand dunes and vast stretches of golden shoreline. It’s a haven for winter bird migrations—look out for species like pink-footed geese, snow buntings, and long-tailed ducks. This peaceful hike is the perfect way to start the new year with fresh sea air and invigorating views.
Accommodation
Our base for the night will be at the welcoming Stuarts house hotel in the heart of King’s Lynn.
Breakfast is included. / Plenty of parking at the hotel.

Car parked at the station is paid, there may be space to park on nearby residential roads for free.
Kit List
For Hiking:
- Hiking boots
- Hiking socks
- Base layer/ Tshirts (dry wicking/ not cotton)
- Lightweight fleece top
- Waterproof jacket
- Waterproof trousers
- Gloves / hat (even if it is warm!)
- Rucksack
- Water bottle (2 litres)
- High calorie snacks
- Lunches
- Head Torch (plus some spare batteries!)
- Survival SOS Bag & Whistle
- Small personal first aid kit & medication (paracetamol etc that you may need)
All of the above items are required.
Rest of Trip
- Party clothes for the evening (Smart Casual Dress Code)
- Sleep Wear / Toiletries/ Personal medication
- Please bring a change of shoes so we are not walking muddy boots into the hotel. .

Guides:
All our walks are led by qualified walking leaders with Mountain Training UK and Outdoor First Aiders.
Weather:
We love the sun but if it is having a day off please be aware activities will still go ahead in the rain. However if conditions are unsafe, hikes are subject to change.
Hiking:
Hikes on this trip are easy / medium level with fairly flat inclines. Paths may be muddy and slippery.
Waiver:
You must be physically fit & well. You are responsible for your own health & safety and must be well enough to hike for 6+ hours.
