Welcome to the Dartmoor Trip!

Dartmoor 22nd -25th August

Welcome everyone to the Dartmoor Trip!

Hope you are looking forward to four days of hiking, fresh air and adventure in stunning Dartmoor!

This trip pack has everything you need to know - What to bring, where to meet and what to expect. Any questions, please ask them in the trip WhatsApp group.

3 nights / 4 day adventure

Female only group

Itinerary

Friday - Meldon Reservoir Walk

Kick off the trip with a picturesque circular hike showcasing Dartmoor’s classic granite tors and wild open moorland. Starting at Meldon Reservoir, we’ll walk past glistening water, Black Tor’s dramatic rocks, and along windswept ridgelines to Sourton Tor. Expect wide views, patches of purple heather, and the chance to spot Dartmoor ponies grazing across the hills.

• Distance: 12 km | Elevation Gain: 393 m

• Time: 3.5–4 hours | Pace: Medium (4 km/hr)

• Hike Rating: Moderate

Afterwards, we’ll check into our accommodation, where you can relax and settle in before heading out for dinner at a local pub. A perfect way to unwind and get to know your fellow adventurers after a days hiking.

Saturday - Princetown Hike

A full day through some of Dartmoor’s most remote and beautiful moorland. Starting from Princetown, we’ll visit the mysterious Crazy Well Pool, cross the scenic Leather Tor Bridge, and explore Ingra Tor before ending at the impressive Foggintor Quarry, with its flooded basin and towering granite walls.  This walk blends wild scenery, local legends, and hidden history, with sweeping views across Burrator Reservoir and a good chance of seeing buzzards or ponies..

  • Distance: 18 km | Elevation Gain: 350 m
  • Time: 5.5–6.5 hours | Pace: Medium (4 km/hr)
  • Hike Rating:  Challenging

Lunch will be enjoyed on the go, and in the evening, we’ll regroup for a relaxed dinner the nearby area.

Sunday - Climbing & George Scrambling

Today is all about adventure - we'll kick things off with a morning climbing session, followed by an exhilarating afternoon of gorge scrambling.

  • Morning: Climbing - Try real outdoor climbing on Dartmoor granite in a fun, supportive session. Do as much or as little as you like—no pressure, just encouragement. More experienced climbers can challenge themselves with trickier routes

  • Afternoon: Gorge Scrambling -  Slide down waterfalls, clamber through flowing streams, plunge into pools—this is your chance to unleash your inner adventurer. It’s all about fun, laughter, and nonsense, and no previous experience is needed. Just bring your sense of adventure and a change of clothes!

In the evening, we’ll gather for a well-earned dinner for our final night in the local area.

Monday - Belstone Tor Hike

Our final day takes us on a quieter, peaceful loop direct from the accommodation, with sweeping views from Belstone Tor and Higher Tor, before descending through a wooded valley along the Tarka Trail. This walk is the perfect blend of moorland openness and shaded woodland, offering a scenic finish to a full weekend of adventure.

  • Distance: 12 km | Elevation Gain: 350 m
  • Time: 5 hours | Pace: Medium
  • Hike Rating: Moderate

After the hike, we’ll say our goodbyes and begin the journey home, taking with us the memories of an unforgettable weekend.

Fitness & Preparedness:

It is your responsibility to ensure you sign up for a trip that matches your current fitness level and experience. Our walks and activities are graded to help you choose appropriately, but please read the trip descriptions carefully and consider the distance, elevation, terrain, and expected pace and experience required for activities.

If, for any reason, the activity leader has concerns about your ability to complete a particular walk within the required time or at a suitable pace, OR the activity leader has any concerns that you cannot take part in the activity safely, you may be asked not to join the walk or activity. This decision is never taken lightly, but it is made for the safety, well being, and enjoyment of the entire group.

Some of our activities and walks are in remote or exposed areas, with limited options to shorten or exit early. Fatigue, cold, heat, or lack of preparedness can pose real risks, especially over multi-day trips. Our aim is for everyone to have a positive and safe experience, so we appreciate your honesty when assessing your readiness and your cooperation with leader decisions on the day.
